This support group is for LGBTQ+ women who are taking space from their birth family members. Here we get to support each other with understanding and warmth. The group meets monthly over live video.
For me, this group has been an important space for self-understanding, grounding, and refocusing. LGBTQ+ family definition has always been an exercise in breaking open and reimagining conventional kinship relations, hopefully with the aim of finding more balanced and respectful ways of coming together and cultivating lifelong connections. Starting from here when considering the family we are born into, surrounded by others who also value and understand the emergent nature of relationships, is a potent source of strength. ~ MB ______________ Being a part of the estrangement support group has given me the clarity and peace of mind to cope with my family relationships. The support, insight, and empowerment that I've obtained from the other members is invaluable. This group has guided me to use my own power to forgive the past and to enforce my boundaries around toxic family members. ~KB
